Race Day Logistics

  • Bib pickup opens 60 minutes before the first run — bring your athlete’s license.
  • Parking is plowed top-of-hill; carpool and arrive 30 minutes early on race mornings.
  • Spectators watch from the fenced finish area; keep the steeplechase lane clear.
  • Canteen and warming hut operate all day — volunteers welcome behind the counter.
  • Results post live during the day and land on this page after jury ratification.

Cold Weather Policy

Training and racing continue in normal Quebec winter cold — dress in layers, cover extremities, and check in with coaches if you are shivering uncontrollably.

  • Modified sessions: wind chill of −20 °C to −25 °C — shortened rotations with mandatory warm-up breaks in the hut.
  • Cancellation: wind chill at or below −25 °C — decisions posted by 6:30 AM via the site banner, Spond, and email.
  • Coach override: any coach may shorten or stop a session regardless of the published threshold. Athlete welfare always wins.

Mandatory Safety Gear

  • Helmet: required for all athletes, every session, no exceptions.
  • Back protector: required for all U12–U16 speed events (Downhill and Super-G).
  • Face coverage: neck gaiter plus goggles for all January–March night sessions.
  • Hands: two pairs of gloves — one thin liner set for training, one warm pair for the chair line.
  • Race bag: dry spare socks, hand warmers, a snack, and a full water bottle at every session.

FIS Helmet Rules

  • Hard-shell chin guard: mandatory for all FIS-sanctioned speed events and all VRC Super-G training runs.
  • Certification: helmets must carry a valid CE EN 1077 or FIS 04.05 sticker. Look for the label inside the shell.
  • Soft-eared covers: only permitted for slalom and giant slalom.
  • Equipment checks: coaches run a helmet and binding check before the first run of every season and at every camp.
  • Replace after impact: any helmet involved in a crash is retired — contact the club for replacement guidance.
